On Sunday, Genesis Church Maryborough bid a warm farewell to our loved Jim and Robyn McMillan and welcomed Matthias & Sam De Haan as lead church overseers.
The Port family of Dave, Giselle, Zac and Sierra, lead us in praise together with James and Liezel Hollands who have committed to serving and basing themselves at Maryborough.
Maryborough locals, Councillor Gerard Murphy and MEC Principal Terry Hilliar shared their thanks and fond memories of Jim with Gerard gifting Jim a Judges Gavel, in gest, inviting Jim to call to order the font of all knowledge in his next endeavour.
Kerrin Wallis from Connect Church in Bendigo shared a message from Acts chapter 2 encouraging the church to look forward, to trust what the Lord is doing, and where he is leading us, and not to get stuck in the past, rather lean into the Holy Spirit.
Originally from Nambour Queensland, Kerrin Wallis and his two brothers Darren and Leigh can be seen on Channel 7’s fishing show My Fishing Place heading to the Northern Territory to chase Barramundi and threadfin salmon. Cameron Butler welcomed Kerrin saying, “Today he [Kerrin] is with us, no bait and switch, no trolling, or crab pots, just a good ol’ hook up. He is today’s catch of the day…”
Kerrin and the Elders, together with Philip Ratcliff from Melbourne (part of our church’s Succession Planning Committee) prayed for Jim and Robyn and Matt and Sam.
Matt shared at the end his love and appreciation for Jim and Robyn. How they played a very pivotal role in keeping the church team together 7 years earlier and helped the church through transition and personal growth in the Lord.
He reflected on their early days riding together through the NSW High Country, cautioning Jim about ever riding a Harley Davidson again. Matt did inform the church that Jim recently bought a “‘Spewgeot’, ooops, sorry, a ‘Peugeot‘” motor scooter. Noting that it was likely for a Jims Pizza Delivery business back in Melbourne. The service concluded with flowers, gifts, thanksgiving and prayer.
