Matt & Sam De Haan

Matt De Haan is the lead pastor at Genesis Church Maryborough. He and his beautiful wife Sam settled in Maryborough over 34 years ago with their kids Kurt and Chloe who now have families of their own.

Matt and his family have served faithfully in the church in youth, pastoral care, maintenance, schools, business and mens ministry and leading music and services.

He recently stood for council and has a long and deep connection in the local community.

Matt is a genuine pastor. He loves helping people feel connected and grow intentionally and enthusiastically in their faith and mission in Christ.

Ross Walker

Ross has lived in the Maryborough district all his life and is a primary producer. He has served in Church life in various roles for many years – being a man of outstanding character in Christ.

Ross has served in the community including St Johns Ambulance (38 years), the local Landcare Group and is an active member of the Dunolly CFA. He is currently serving on the Board of Eldership at Genesis Church where his insight and wisdom is invaluable.

Ross is married to Bev and they have 2 adult children.

Giselle Port

Giselle Port joined Genesis Church Board of Eldership in October 2017 bringing a wealth of practical expertise to the position. Giselle has been involved in the Goldfields Shire’s “Go Goldfields”, “Child Aware” and “Build your Village Here” initiatives and is exceptionally community focused. She is also passionate to see people respond positively to Jesus.

Giselle loves music, having served in the music ministry of several churches for over 20 years. She is married to Dave and the mother of two amazing kids Zac & Sierra.

Gary Gregor

Gary grew up in the Mallee, farming the land and now works at the local sawmill in Talbot. He has dedicated 10 years of service to Red Frogs Chaplaincy in Lorne, providing care and support for end of school leavers and sharing Jesus.

Gary is also very active and well known in the local Maryborough and Talbot community serving the Talbot CFA as First Lieutenant and Training Officer. He has a heart of service and loves to help people in a practical way.

Gary is married to his beautiful wife Emma and father to Charlotte.

Cameron Butler

Cameron has served faithfully in pastoral eldership for over 35 years. He served as a local church pastor before serving in the community strategically committed to influencing sport culture and developing volunteer urban sports chaplaincy networks around Australia and internationally.

From 1998-2012 and 2022 he served as the Chaplain of the Melbourne Football Club (AFL).

Cam continues to lead influence inside and outside the church. He lives in Melbourne and has 4 adult children and one grandchild. Most notably his son Lachlan recently played for Maryborough in the BFNL.

Debbie & Arthur Broughton

What a wonderful blessing Debbie and Arthur Broughton are to our fellowship. Deb serves the women faithfully and Arthur regularly preaches God’s word. Arthur is an ordained Baptist minister who serves as Locum (temporary) pastor in churches across country Victoria.

James & Liezel Hollands

For many years Genesis Church has had a long relationship with James Hollands when he and the Iron & Clay music team visited Maryborough in the early 2000’s. Since then James has gone on to play in many bands, create and publish his own music and videos, some of which have gone to Triple Platinum status (see here). James runs the David Jaanz International Singing Academy in Bendigo and Maryborough and teaches music privately. Liezel works in the medical field.

Recently moved to Maryborough, James and his wife Liezel now help lead our praise and celebration team and serve on the ministry team.
