Jim & Robyn McMillan

Lead Pastors

Jim and Robyn McMillan have been married for over 35 years and have 3 adult children and have been serving as the Lead Pastors of Genesis Church since 2017. Jim has over 30 years’ experience in Christian ministry and mission serving in a variety of roles including senior pastoral leadership, mission, mentoring and governance roles.

Jim has lead Youth Ministries, Pastored Churches, Founded and Directed Social Welfare Organisations as well as being highly involved in the “Not for Profit” sector.

Jim is a gifted communicator with a strong prophetic edge to his ministry. He regularly ministers at camps, crusades, seminars and conferences throughout Australia, Asia, Middle East, Europe and the United States. He possesses a unique and effective gift of motivating, challenging and encouraging people from all walks of life and will challenge all those who come under his ministry.

During the past decade, Jim has been actively involved in serving and supporting the persecuted Church in Asia and the Middle East, giving him a unique insight into current world events. In February 2015, Jim along with his wife Robyn launched a new Ministry to the Persecuted Church called “Stand With Them” and his passion for the body of Christ is infectious.

Matt & Sam De haan

Our Pastoral Care Pastor

Wow! What a couple! It was over 30 years ago Matt and Sam settled in Maryborough with their two kids – you could “almost” call them locals now.

In fact, Matt and Sam started serving at Genesis Church in 1991 and still continue to make a wonderful difference in our community today.

Matt is exceptionally pastoral. Serving new people and families. He loves helping people feel connected and grow in their faith and purpose in Christ. Matt and Sam have two adult children and two grandchildren.

Jared Beasy

Our Young Generations Pastor

Jared is our super youth and kids pastor.

He’s a pretty handy footballer and gun basketballer! But best of all he loves Jesus and kids reaching their full potential.

Our Eldership

Ross Walker

Ross has lived in the Maryborough district all his life and is a primary producer. He has served in Church life in various roles for many years – being a man of outstanding character.

Ross has served in the community including St Johns Ambulance (38 years), the local Landcare Group and is an active member of the Dunolly CFA. He is currently serving on the Board of Eldership at Genesis Church where his insight and wisdom is invaluable.

Ross is married to Bev and they have 2 adult children.

Giselle Port

Giselle Port joined Genesis Church Board of Eldership in October 2017 bringing a wealth of practical expertise to the position. Giselle has been involved in the Goldfields Shire’s “Go Goldfields”, “Child Aware” and “Build your Village Here” initiatives and is exceptionally community focused. She is also passionate to see people respond positively to Jesus.

Giselle loves music, having served in the music ministry of several churches for over 20 years. She is married to Dave and the mother of 2 kids Zac & Sienna.

David Hyatt (MAPS)

David joined our Church Eldership team in 2020 bringing with him many years of wisdom in social, emotional and spiritual formation. Apart from being a resilient Essendon supporter, an avid bush walker, and lover of the outdoors, David is a well known local health professional serving as a Psychologist.

As a young man, David came to faith in Jesus after responding to a message from evangelist Brian Willersdorf. Now, he and his wife Helen are dedicated members at our Ballarat campus and regularly plays piano at church on Sundays.

Cameron Butler

Cameron, the former National Director Sports Chaplaincy Australia and Chaplain of the Melbourne Football Club has served in pastoral ministry for over 30 years.

He served as a local church pastor for 8 years before serving in the community strategically committed to influencing sport culture and developing volunteer urban sports chaplaincy networks around Australia and the world.

Cam is continuing to lead influence inside and outside the church. He lives in Melbourne and has 4 adult children. Most notably his son Lachlan plays for Maryborough in the BFNL.

We love to live an active life in our local community and church.
