Over the past two months at Genesis Church we have been watching US Pastor John Bevere’s ‘The Bait of Satan’ video series. This series has addressed the very real and common issue of people taking offence, or holding offence.
Don’t let offense keep you from fulfilling your God-given purpose.
See the video series links below.
The enemy’s most deadly and deceptive trap is the “offense” trap. It severs relationships, widens the existing breaches between us, and handicaps us from fulfilling our full potential in life and service to God.
The Greek word “skand-alon”, which is used to describe the offense of Luke 17:1 originally referred to the part of the trap to which the bait was attached. It is used in the New Testament to describe an entrapment used by our old enemy.
When we are offended, we fall into one of two categories: those who have been treated unjustly and those who believe they have been treated unjustly. The latter category is made up of people who have been wronged, but their understanding is darkened because their assumptions are inaccurate or their information is accurate but their conclusion is distorted.
As a result, the enemy keeps you in an offended state by keeping the offense hidden, cloaked with pride. Pride keeps you from admitting your true condition. It distorts your vision. You never change when you believe everything is fine.
We have made the video series available here. Please watch and discerningly meditate on what the Holy Spirit may be saying to you. Blessings, Pastor Matt.
