Maryborough, Sunday 4 June 2023 – It was announced today that current Genesis Church senior pastor Jim McMillan and his wife Robyn will be finishing up as our church overseers on Sunday August 27, 2023.
Ross Walker, chair of the eldership, shared with the church of the blessing Jim and Robyn have been these past 8 years. “God faithfully called Jim McMillan to serve and establish his work and plans for the Maryborough church family over the past 8 years after the long tenure of our former pastor Clive Buck. Changes were made, new campuses adopted, lives impacted, spiritual formation ignited, and a solid foundation for the future has been laid. For which we are very grateful.”

Jim McMillan shared how the Board Eldership has been praying, discerning and planning for this next season and how the Holy Spirit prompted our elders that he was calling Matt de Haan as our incoming church pastor. A time of discernment was taken and a confident and unanimous confirmation made.
Matt de Haan reflected that it came as a shock to him at first, but saw God’s hand and anointing on it. “Sam and I are deeply honoured to lead this next season for Maryborough Church.” Commenting further, “There is a deep sense that the Lord is going to do a new thing. Both at Maryborough, with some new strategies, and with Jim as he continues to lead Ballarat, and Kingston campuses from Melbourne. The wonderful joy is that we get to share in God’s goodness and story as it unfolds.”
The Church eldership team are genuinely excited for the next season and are confident that Jesus is continuing to lead us to a place of flourishing in our love for him, for one another, and for our community as we seek to share his grace and mercy generously. During the service Cam Butler and the Elders laid hands on Jim and Robyn, and Matt and Sam in prayer for this coming season and transition.
Genesis Church invites all members of the congregation, as well as the wider community, to join us in a special farewell service for Pastor Jim & Robyn and a warm commissioning service for Pastor Matt & Sam on Sunday August 27 at 10.00 AM at Maryborough Church, 9 Neill Street Maryborough. This will be an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Pastor Jim and to extend a warm embrace to Pastor Matt as he embarks on this new journey. Kerrin Wallis from Connect Church in Bendigo will lead the service.
