Genesis Church ministry team pastor Cameron Butler recently returned from a week of ministry at Divergent Church in Canberra ACT.
Cameron shared with a group of football players and coaches on Thursday night. Ministered Friday night and Saturday morning at the Divergent Church Men’s Summit called Movement. He spoke at the church’s “All-in” church service Sunday morning and spent Monday morning with the church’s leadership team and training the interns on Monday night.
Cameron said it was great to spend time with Kade and the team. “When people asked me how the meetings were I said ‘great’. However, one of the best parts for me was the “in-between” moments chatting and sharing God’s ideas, his wisdom and encouragement.” “There was a powerful sense that God was calling men to stand out, and stand up in faith – to be God-made-men and not self-made-men!”
Divergent Church has multiple campuses around Canberra, Port Macquarie NSW, and Geelong Victoria.
Overseeing pastor Kade Klemke has been a long-time friend of Cameron when he landed in Melbourne as a young 18 year-old rookie playing for Essendon in the AFL. Kade grew up in a small farming community in southern NSW called Henty, 40 minutes North of Albury in the Hume Shire. While Kade was playing football for his State (NSW) he served as the youth leader at the local Henty AOG church. After finishing AFL in Melbourne he returned to his
family’s farm and then travelled north to Captain-Coach the Canberra Demons to the Australian NEAFL Premiership when only 23 years old – the youngest national coach ever!

Kade now oversees the Divergent church network with his wife Rachel and two sons Tom and Levi. Meanwhile he still continues to be the coach of the Queanbeyan Tigers in the Canberra AFL competition. Originating from his roots, Kade has a servant heart to strengthen and bless country churches. Cameron asked him to come and share with us at Maryborough – which he said “I would love too!”
We look forward to having Kade come and minister at Maryborough in the near future and lead our Men’s Summit in 2024.
