Farewell Dear Friend – Brian Rich

Posted on 14 July 2024

This Thursday Genesis Church welcomed family and friends to the celebration service of dear friend Brian Rich. Officiating minister Roger Rich, the brother of Brian reflected on the life of his brother, quoting from the Book of Job in the Bible saying, “I know my redeemer lives!”

Roger opened the service in prayer asking for God’s comfort to fill all hearts including Julie and their children and family – that all too may know the peace that comes from our redeemer, who helps us turn our sorrow and grief into lasting and confident joy.

Warmly known as “Gorgeous Gadger” Brian had a love for gadgets especially working on motorbikes and engines.

Rest in peace Gadger

Brian was a well-loved and well-known and accomplished apiarist, or bee-keeper, having received Life Membership in 2008 from his industry association.

Whilst he loved gadgets, bees and his colleagues, nothing made Brian happier than his family, especially Julie and his granddaughters, playing with them and happily dressing-up with them.

Roger reflected that Brian saw things more clearly as he lived his final days. He encouraged the capacity crowd of over 300 people to move from seeing things dimly to seeing things more clearly by lifting our eyes heaven-ward – to Christ who is our only gate to heaven.

Pastor Matt De Haan finished the service in tribute to Brian and the Lord’s prayer.

Some of the final words included,

“Thank you Brian for being my mate.” “Rest in peace Gadger.” “I love you dad.”

May you rest in peace with Jesus Brian. Love, your family and friends at Genesis Church.
