What a wonderful reminder of Jesus’s gracious words saying “It is better to give than to receive.” He tangibly modelled his generosity by healing us, setting us free, forgiving us and giving up his life on the cross of Calvary that we might know present and eternal life.
We are so amazingly blessed and grateful for all Jesus has done for us.
On Sunday October 29 we are celebrating our Harvest Giving Sunday – our first fruits giving service.
First fruits giving is an opportunity for us to stop, pray and sow into God’s work, into his kingdom mission and into people around us. We humbly take the opportunity to consider all Jesus has done for us, and then take the very best of his blessings in our lives and sow radically, by faith and prayerfully. It’s not equal giving rather equal sacrifice – when we sow – something deep happens in us. Pastor Matt De Haan said, “I get a deep sense that something profound and significant is going to happen when we respond this Harvest Sunday. Thank you for going on this journey with us.”
Next Season
With the many changes taking place at Genesis Church we would like to invite our faithful congregation to prayerfully consider sowing into the NEXT SEASON God has for us – to the work and mission of Jesus in seeing his kingdom come.
Pledge Card – How To
We have attached a Harvest Giving Pledge Card below for you to print out.
- Please pray about what amount you can sow above your regular tithes and offerings.
- Write the amount down on the card.
- Then on Sunday 29 October at 10am come with your gift, or, write down the date when you plan to make the gift. The card is anonymous so its between you and the Lord. There will be a time during the service you can come down and place your pledge card into the offering bag. We will pray and give thanks to Jesus for all he has done and for the next season ahead in our lives and the life of our church in Maryborough.
Thank you for your generosity, faithfulness to Jesus, commitment to his Kingdom coming across our region, to your neighbours, family, friends and work colleagues.
May God richly bless you and flourish you in your life and service.
